Concreters in Trevallyn

Trevallyn is a hillside suburb looking out over the Tamar and the Gorge, and that view comes at a price in concreting terms. Almost nothing here is flat, which changes the job before a single bag of cement is ordered.

What Concreting in Trevallyn Actually Involves

Every suburb in Launceston throws up something slightly different. This is what we plan around here.

Steep Driveways Are Their Own Skill

The grade has to get a car up without scraping it at the top or the bottom. That is a set-out problem more than a concrete problem, and getting it wrong is something you notice every single day.

Site Cuts and Retaining, Most of the Time

A level pad on a Trevallyn block usually means cutting into the hill with a batter or a wall on the high side. We do the excavation and the concrete, so the levels are one crew's responsibility rather than two.

Access Is the Constraint, Not the Concrete

Narrow streets, steep drives and tight turns. It often means a line pump or a boom over the house, and it is the first thing we look at when we come out.

Steps, Because the Ground Makes You

Garden flights linking levels are a Trevallyn staple. Every riser the same height and grip on every tread, the two rules that matter most on a slope in a wet winter.

Common Questions

Trevallyn Questions We Get Asked

Can you pour a driveway on a steep Trevallyn block?

Yes, and the grade is the whole design. It has to be climbable in the wet, it has to not scrape at the change of grade top and bottom, and it wants a heavy broom finish for traction. We set that out before anything is boxed.

Will you need a concrete pump up here?

More often than not. Steep, narrow access is exactly what a line pump is for, and where the street is built out we go over the house with a boom. We check the access at the quote so it is booked rather than discovered.

Do I need a retaining wall as well?

Frequently, on a hillside block. Cutting a level pad leaves a face on the high side that has to be held back, a batter if there is room, a wall if there is not. We quote both so you can see the difference.
