Concreters in Riverside

Riverside is Launceston's largest suburb and it grew from the late 1950s onward, with the newest subdivisions up in North Riverside. Being across the river matters less than people think, what matters is which decade your street was built in.

What Concreting in Riverside Actually Involves

Every suburb in Launceston throws up something slightly different. This is what we plan around here.

Sloping Blocks Towards the Water

A lot of Riverside falls towards the Tamar. That means site cuts, retaining edges and driveways that have to work with the grade rather than against it, and it means drainage gets designed rather than assumed.

North Riverside Is the Newest Concrete in the City

The modern subdivisions up that end are new builds, house slabs, shed pads, driveways from scratch. Different work entirely from a 1960s replacement down near the river.

The Original 60s Streets Are Due

Riverside's services and schools arrived in the early 1960s and the housing came with them. Sixty years is a long life for a driveway.

Pool Surrounds, Because of the Aspect

More pools here than in most Launceston suburbs, and a pool surround is the one slab judged with wet feet. Slip and heat decide the finish before anything else does.

Common Questions

Riverside Questions We Get Asked

Do you charge more to come across the river?

No. Riverside is a normal part of our run and there is no travel loading for it. The things that change the price are the slope, the access and what is there now, the same as anywhere else.

My Riverside block slopes towards the river. Is that a problem?

It is a consideration rather than a problem, and it is very common here. A sloping block usually means a site cut with a batter or a low retaining edge on the high side. We price the cut and the concrete as one job.

Do you do pool surrounds in Riverside?

Yes, and it is a suburb we do a lot of them in. The decision that matters is the finish: exposed aggregate or liquid limestone in the wet zone, and honed set back from the water where people lie down.
