Concreting work of the kind we do in Prospect

Concreters in Prospect

Prospect runs from established streets through to new subdivision, which makes it two jobs in one suburb: replacing tired concrete on the older side, and pouring house slabs and driveways on the newer.

What Concreting in Prospect Actually Involves

Every suburb in Launceston throws up something slightly different. This is what we plan around here.

New Builds Want the Slab Done Properly First

On a new block the concrete is the first thing that goes in and everything else sits on it. Site classification, the engineer's detail and the base all matter more here than on any replacement job.

Established Streets, Ageing Concrete

The older part of Prospect has the same story as the rest of southern Launceston, original driveways past their life, poured before anyone had two cars.

Newer Estates Have Better Access

Wider streets, bigger setbacks and blocks that have not been landscaped yet. It is the easiest access we get and it shows in the price.

Doing It All in One Visit

On a new build we would rather do the driveway, the paths and the shed pad in one mobilisation than come back three times. It is cheaper for you and better for the finish, because it is all the same concrete.

Common Questions

Prospect Questions We Get Asked

Do you pour house slabs in Prospect?

Yes, and to the engineer's detail rather than a standard recipe. New builds are designed against a site classification, which is what tells you how the ground moves and therefore how the slab has to be built.

Should I do the driveway at the same time as the house slab?

Not usually at the same time, because the driveway takes a beating from every trade that follows. But it is worth planning both together so the levels work and we are not guessing at the finished height later.

Is access easier on the new estates?

Considerably. Wide streets, room for a truck and a block that has not been fenced or planted yet. It means less barrowing, sometimes no pump at all, and that comes off the price.
